Double Sheet Detection for high tech automation applications
The double blank control units of the R1000 series were designed with a maximum of common features. They have, e.g. the same interfaces to the PLC and the press controls and an identical control panel. They exhibit the following common features:

  • Digital display of sheet thickness and operating parameter
  • Memory for 255 program parameter sets
  • Monitoring of operating voltage and measurement time
  • Outputs for 0-sheet, 1-sheet, double blank and enable with relay or opto coupler outputs
  • PLC interface
  • Optional fieldbus interfaces: Profibus, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Interbus or CANopen
  • Optional: Field enclosure (IP65) or front panel mounting

Cost effective double sheet detection in metal packaging
For many double sheet detection tasks in the metal packaging industry it is frequently not necessary to use microprocessor based systems. The production of various types of metal packaging usually requires only few, frequently only one sheet thickness to be processed in the machines. In these cases adjustments for other sheet thicknesses are not necessary and therefore storing of different parameter sets is not usually not required.

The same reasoning applies to Hidden Parts Detection when verifying the presence of weld nuts,studs, or reinforcement parts before welding.

For these tasks cost-effective double sheet detectors are available as illustrated below - both with single probe permanent magnetic sensors for tinplate or non-contact dual sensor systems for tinplate and aluminum. In addition, these systems are also suited for special purpose machinery in general sheet metal processing e.g. for office equipment made of metal, lamp screens, or shelving systems.
